Nerringillah is near a large variety of different habitats. It lies within the Greater Conjola National Park, predominantly regrowth blackbutt and bloodwood eucalypts. However, there are areas of old growth eucalypts along the stream lines; scribbly gums and grass trees; untouched rainforest gullies and wet coastal heathland, all within 4 km of the Centre. Of course the whole range of coastal ecosystems of lagoons, surf, dunes and rock platforms are only 3.5 km away.
This myriad of different ecosystems so close to one another means that there is a huge array of different species of wildlife within close reach of Nerringillah. Even around the property itself a large variety of fauna finds food and shelter.
Barbara has available an entire book put together by various contributors that details the fauna and flora of the area. This really only scrapes the surface. Instead of showing this now , it may be more useful to indicate the more usually sighted inhabitants of just Nerringillah Ecology Centre and some of the more rarely seen or endangered species.
